Croatian National Contact Point for Responsible Business Conduct is part of the team in charge of conducting the peer review of the National Contact Point of Italy. The purpose of the peer review is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the NCP under review in terms of fulfilling its tasks and it’s compliance with key performance criteria set out in the Implementation Procedures of the Guidelines, which include visibility, accessibility, transparency, accountability, impartiality and fairness, predictability and compliance with the Guidelines.
The peer review is carried out in accordance with the modalities adopted by the Working Group for Responsible Business Conduct. Focus is on four areas – institutional structure, promotional activities, resolution of specific instances and activities to support government policies to encourage responsible business conduct. According to the findings and as necessary, recommendations for improvement are given.
The National Contact Point of Italy operates within the Ministry for Enterprise and Made in Italy, the Directorate-General for Industrial Policy, Innovation and SMEs. It is supported by an Advisory Board that includes representatives of the government, businesses, trade unions and civil society.
The peer review of the Italian NCP is being conducted by a team made up of representatives of the NCPs of Canada and Croatia, along with representatives of the OECD Secretariat. On 16 – 18 December 2025 an on-site visit took place, which included interviews with the NCP, members of the Advisory board, other relevant government representatives and stakeholders. The final report with the results of the evaluation and recommendations for improvement will be published in spring 2026.
Peer reviews are an important mechanism for increasing the effectiveness of the implementation of the Guidelines, exchanging good practices and achieving functional equivalence of the NCPs. The Croatian NCP will be subject to peer review in the fourth quarter of 2026.
