OECD Due Diligence Tools Presented at the ESG Academy

20/02/2026

Yesterday, an ESG Academy workshop organized by the Croatian Chamber of Economy titled “European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) – ESRS 1 General Requirements and Double Materiality” was successfully held, providing participants with a comprehensive and structured overview of the ESRS regulatory framework and the key challenges in its practical implementation.

Participants were introduced to the key elements of ESRS 1, with a particular focus on the application of double materiality (DMA), value chain management, and audit expectations. Through concrete practical examples, organizations were further guided on how to effectively approach alignment with ESRS requirements and improve the quality of sustainability reporting.

From the perspective of the National Contact Point (NCP) for Responsible Business Conduct, the importance of due diligence was emphasized as a fundamental process for identifying, preventing, and mitigating adverse environmental and social impacts in line with international standards.

As part of the panel discussion “Practical Experience – Implementation of Double Materiality and ESRS Requirements,” practical insights were shared by representatives of the business sector. Panelists discussed operational challenges in implementing double materiality, cooperation with auditors, stakeholder engagement, and the further development of internal processes in accordance with regulatory requirements.

The workshop confirmed the importance of continuous education and the exchange of experiences among institutions, the business sector, and experts, particularly in the context of growing expectations related to sustainability, transparency, and responsible business conduct.
