Conference on EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive

22/10/2024

The Office of the Ombudswoman of the Republic of Croatia hosted a conference at Hotel Zonar in Zagreb today, focusing on the implementation of the new EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive.

The conference brought together key stakeholders from public administration, business sector, trade unions, non-governmental organizations, and expert community to enhance understanding of Directive (EU) 2024/1760, which introduces new standards for sustainable and responsible business conduct for large companies operating in the EU.

A significant portion of the conference was dedicated to the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises as a key international standard for responsible business conduct. The National Contact Point for Responsible Business Conduct presented how these Guidelines can assist Croatian companies in adapting to the new EU due diligence requirements.

“This conference marks an important step in preparing the Croatian economy for new EU standards of responsible business conduct. The OECD Guidelines provide a valuable framework for implementing due diligence requirements,” was highlighted at the conference.
