As part of Mediation Week, Nancy Butijer, a member of the External Body of the National Contact Point and Head of the Trade and Investment Policy Sector at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, highlighted the role of the National Contact Point in peacefully resolving disputes related to the alleged non-observance of the Guidelines by multinational enterprises through specific instances.
Butijer’s presentation on October 15 focused on the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and how the National Contact Point serves as an accessible, out-of-court mechanism for addressing complaints about potential Guidelines violations.
Globally, National Contact Points have handled over 650 cases, with a significant portion related to human rights (62%), due diligence (54%), employment and worker issues (39%), environment (24%), and disclosure (24%).
