Zagreb, 14 May 2025 – The 18th Conference on Food Safety and Quality, organized by the Croatian Chamber of Economy, brought together representatives from the public and private sectors, academia, and international experts in the fields of agriculture, the food industry, and sustainable development.
As part of the conference program, the Ministry of Economy – a member of Croatia’s National Contact Point (NCP) for Responsible Business Conduct – presented the OECD tools for responsible agricultural supply chains during the session titled “Global Standards, Import (Export) Regulations and Responsible Business Conduct in Agricultural Supply Chains.”
The OECD tools offer practical guidance for companies in the agri-food sector to effectively implement due diligence, identify risks, and ensure responsible business practices throughout the supply chain. These tools are particularly relevant in the context of evolving EU regulations related to sustainability, environmental protection, and respect for human rights.
The conference reaffirmed the importance of cross-sectoral cooperation in enhancing food safety systems, strengthening the resilience of food supply chains, and promoting sustainable business models. The National Contact Point used the opportunity to call on all stakeholders to actively adopt the OECD guidelines and tools, especially in preparation for upcoming EU legislative requirements related to due diligence.
